Recovering nutrients from aquaculture effluents through the integrated use of polychaete filters and halophytes in aquaponics

April 2022

Daniel Jerónimo completed successfully his PhD

An Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) approach

On April 20th, Daniel Jerónimo completed successfully his PhD on Biology by the University of Aveiro. His work showed that an Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) approach allows the recovery and conversion of nutrients from aquaculture effluents into valuable extractive biomasses, namely polychaetes (e.g., Hediste diversicolor) and halophyte plants (e.g., Salicornia ramosissima). Congratulations Daniel!!!!
